Overview

The 7 days Uganda primate classic Safari is one of the most rewarding safari tours organized for travellers on Uganda safaris to enjoy trekking the different stunning primate species housed in the different protected areas of Uganda. The safari encounter gives an opportunity for travellers to have memorable primate encounter in the prominent primate Capital of Kibale National Park. The famous primate activity you will enjoy in Kibale is mainly Chimpanzee trekking which starts from Kanyanchu Visitor Centre early morning at 08.00 am and afternoon time at 2.00pm. The activity takes approximately 2-3 hours. Primate walk in this park gives tourists an opportunity to search for the 12 other famous species of the primates housed in the park and these include view rare white and black colobus, red tailed monkey as well as the grey cheeked mangabey. The trip increases you chances of trekking the primates in Uganda‘s second largest national park i.e. Queen Elizabeth National Park. While at the Queen, you will enjoy the adventurous Launch cruise in the Kazinga Channel, do game drives and also enjoy the sights of tree climbing Lions only found in the Ishasha Sector. From the Ishasha sector, the safari links you to Bwindi Impenetrable national park where you will have life time encounter with the world endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Description

Day 1: Arrival to Entebbe international Air Port.

On your first day to Uganda’s international airport Entebbe, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will be your immediate conduct person for the rest of your safari days in Uganda. The drive guide will transfer you to your Kampala booked lodge for dinner and overnight. Depending on the time you arrive to Uganda, you could do city tour to explore the different tourist’s attractions within Kampala Capital City of Uganda the Pearl of Africa.

Day 2: Drive transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park (Drive distance of 358kms)

Immediately after your early morning breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from your Kampala lodge /hotel as early as 7:00am Ugandan local time and you will embark on drive transfer from Kampala to Kibale forest park in south western part of Uganda. The journey to Kibale is pleasant one since it will take you through attractive scenic land scape which makes Uganda the pearl of Africa. It is a scenic drive and once again you will be reminded why Uganda is the called the Pearl of Africa. You will have time to stop at the Equator for an interesting water experiment, photo shot and visit to the craft shops. After wards, you will continue with your wonderful drive to Uganda’s tourism town Fort Portal. On arrival to the town, you have your Lunch and take 30 minutes’ drive to tour the fascinating Amabere ga Nnyinamwiru which is famous stalagmites and stalactites that looks like cow breasts. Listen to the amazing story about the natural wonder explained to you by an experienced guide. After that short rewarding tour, you will drive back to fort portal town and proceed with 26 distance drive to Kibale forest national park. On Arrival at Kibale Forest, you will drive direct to your choice lodging to check-in, relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park (Chimpanzee trekking 2-3hrs, Guided nature walks in Bigodi wetland)

After an early morning from your respective lodge, you will drive to the Kanyankyu tourist center which is situated in inside Kibale forest and where chimp trekking activities start from. Here you will be briefed by ranger guide and then after led by the UWA ranger guide for memorable chimp trekking in the loviest forest of Kibale. Chimpanzee tracking starts at 8:00am local time and it can take up to 2- 3 hours. Chimpanzees are our closet cousins though they are one of the most threatened primate’s species. Unlike other Uganda chimpanzee locations, at Kibale forest park, your chances of meeting the Chimps are over 98%.When you  meet the chimps, you are allocated one hour  to interact with them and get to observe them up close allowing you to take some close-up pictures. The chimpanzees are habituated, a process that takes up to two years and gets the chimpanzees used to human presence so that they continue with their activities while you are present. After memorable chimpanzee encounter, you will return to the starting point after which you will take the afternoon guided walk to the prominent Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary where you are taken into the world of a jungle swamp, a rather unique experience. The wetland is a birder’s safe heaven with about 138 species and is best known for being home to the Great Blue Turaco. The walk will take you around 2 - 3 hour walk and is a must for bird lovers. Bigodi Sanctuary is located outside the park in Magombe Swamp it also hosts eight species of primates including the black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed, L’Hoest’s and blue monkeys, and olive baboons. Bushbucks and mongooses and many more can also be found here.

Day 4 – Drive transfer from Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Drive distance of 157kms)

After your early morning breakfast, you will depart your Kibale lodge heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey to Queen Elibazabeth national park is an interesting one because you will traverse through green farm lands, tea plantations, hills of the western region of Uganda. On arrival to the park, you will drive direct to your Lodge to check-in and have your Lunch. After your lunch, you will head for an afternoon fantastic launch cruise on the Kazinga channel that leaves at 2:00pm local time and it takes 2-3 hours of maximum adventure. The cruise will give an opportunity to enjoy the views and sights of the beautiful bird species, wild game like buffaloes, hippos, Elephants, crocodiles, while drinking the water in the precious channel. The adventurous launch cruise starts from Mweya and it takes 2 hours through the magnificent waters of Lake Edward to Lake Albert. After exploring the Kazinga channel, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National park (Game drive, and drive transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest, drive distance of 160kms)

On your 5th day, you will wake-up very early in the morning, take your breakfast and proceed for 3 - 4 hour game drive starting from 6:30. This will give you the opportunity to meet the some nocturnal wildlife species when they are returning to their hiding grounds, and also you will have chance to view the early morning risers when they are starting their daily activities of looking for food. The drive through the famous savannah of Kasenyi plains provides you with  unique opportunity to view different wildlife like jackals, Bush bucks, forest hogs, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, lions, the beautiful Uganda Kob, bush pigs among others. After memorable game drive, you will say last words of thanks to the park rangers and proceed with your drive to Ishasha sector. Here you will have an opportunity to watch the tree climbing lions which are easily seen during day hours when there is sunshine because they climb to rest on the top of the fig trees. You will have your lunch in the Ishasha sector and afterwards you will continue with the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park. On arrive to Bwindi’s Buhoma sector; you will drive straight to your Lodge to check-in, relaxation, dinner and slumber.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Mountain Gorilla Tracking, 2-8 hours trek)

You will wake up very early in the morning; take an exuberant breakfast to give you the energy needed to hike the hills in the slippery trails of Bwindi forest when searching for the rare mountain gorillas. After breakfast, you will proceed with your packed lunch to the park’s headquarters for early morning briefing at 8:00am about the codes conduct when trekking the gorillas. Afterwards you will be led by ranger guide to trek the gorillas in the thick creepers and undergrowth of afro monotone vegetation of Bwindi and this will take you between 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the mountain gorillas. Once up close to the group, a memorable, magical one hour is given to you to be with these gentle giants.  You can decide to sit in the forest among the Gorillas, listen to them grumble to each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male-the Silverback. The steeply forested landscape of Bwindi is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. It is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. When the one hour is done, you will make return back to where you started the trek from and proceed to the lodge for refreshment before embarking on a walk to the nearby community to have cultural encounter with the Batwa people famously known as pigmies in Uganda. After lunch, relaxation, your driver guide will drive you to the nearby Batwa community for refreshment cultural encounter. Here you will be guided by a local guide who will take you to the different communities to see how people have managed to survive through farming.  You will see how local brew is processed from fresh Bananas and forest remedies to get beer and Waragi. After that interesting cultural encounter, you will drive back to your respective lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Drive transfer from Bwindi to Kampala (drive distance of 527kms)

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on drive transfer from Bwindi impenetrable National Park to Kampala. The long drive is tiresome but very rewarding and you will have your Lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre .On your way, you will by-pass Mpambire village, famous for the Royal Drums Makers and of course the Ugandan Equator, where you can take photos and shop for a souvenir. You will arrive to Kampala late in the evening to mark the end of your safari.
