Akagera game Lodge -Rwanda-Mid range

Akagera Game Lodge is located in the northeast direction of Rwanda within an approximated area of land of 90 000 ha Akagera National Park. The lodge is strategically positioned on a ridge overlooking Lake Ihema amidst a mosaic of grass, bush and varied terrain of hills, deep valleys, lakes and marches. Recognized as a superior venue, Akagera Game Lodge provides a superbly relaxed and cool atmosphere which is very ideal for a successful conference, a tranquil or calm gateway or serene encounter with nature. The lodge provides to visitors world class accommodation in the different room types which range from Single room, Double to Twin as well as Family plus even the Executive suite and a luxury accommodation in the lodge’s cottages, Each of the rooms are built with verandah or viewing area where visitors can enjoy views of the Lake Ihema hence giving guest an opportunity to witness a magnificent sunrise in an African true style. The lodge structure is well decorated with a charming, cheerful African flair and each and every room has two beds, writing desk incase visitor wants to write or read something, chair and satellite TV.
All rooms in the lodge are well designed with distinct individual interior pan-African themes. The hotel has dinning called Shoebill Restaurant which is built with charming, cool atmosphere and serves an exquisite cuisine in the form of à la carte menu or Buffet meals for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The variety of spices and ingredients from distant shores has been a source of inspiration to the Executive Chef. An expert in the art of starters, main course and desserts, prepares both local and international products in a masterly fashion and has created an array of tempting delicacies in our restaurant.
The Elephant Bar which is found in the adjacent areas to the shoebill Restaurant, offers visitors with a retreat area from the heat during day hours. The elephant bar offers comfortable heaven for quiet moments at night, with magnificent views of the African starlit sky.
The terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and lake, offers a light à la carte menu between meals or a long cool drink while the midday sun beats down on the African savannah terrain. Emerging from this shoebill restaurant, we then head towards, the ‘elephant Bar and lounge’ which overlooks the pool and the lakes, to enjoy our unique cocktails that fits to your mood, local beer and other different drinks like spirit, wines, whiskies needed while a light melody of jazz, blues or local music carries you away. The hotel also has facilities such as the swimming pool, the conference room which enables visitors to organize meetings, and the tennis court.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge-Budget.

The new Ruzizi Tented Lodge was opened in November 2012 and it’s located in the riverine forest on the edge of Lake Ihema which is Akagera’s largest lake and Rwanda’s second largest lake. This small private camp provides seven en-suite tents which can accommodate a maximum of fourteen guests and found along the forested lake edge, sheltered by swaying palms as well a large trees. The tents are well spaced on the either sides of a thatched reception area with a lounge as well as bar and dining room. All the tents are have addressing area, en-suite bathroom with cold and hot running water, a comfortable twine or queen beds. All the lodge tents can be reached by a wooden boardwalk from the reception. The camp is entirely powered by solar, with a solar hot water system. The lodge meals are served to guests on time for instance Breakfast is served from 5.30am onwards in the dining room. Breakfast mainly consists of homestead bread, local fruits, condiment, and eggs. Lunch is not included in the lodge rates however a limited lunch menu is available to guest on request. For visitors who plan to spend most of the time in the park, pack lunch is organized for them. At the lodge dinner is served at 7:30pm but before this time, there is pre-dinner drinks and sacks at 7:00pm Guests are requested to join us in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and snacks at 7pm. Dinner is a set menu, freshly prepared by our lodge chefs, and will differ daily. Examples include a braai with a selection of meats and salads, a variety of gourmet pizzas, or a selection of potjie dishes, followed by a desert of the day.
If you have any allergies please let the lodge staff know upon arrival, if you have not already done so when making your booking. The lodge’s Laundry Services offered to guest are done to ensure that guest enjoy their stay at the lodge. In the lodge, bed linen is changed every second day for visitors who spend their night at the lodge and also fresh towels are provided to guest on request. A laundry service for personal items is available and visitors are requested to note that, it may take almost 24 hours for washed and ironed laundry to be returned to visitor’s tent and hence visitors are recommended to ask for laundry services when he or she is spending 24 hours before departure.
At the lodge facility, the main source of energy is solar and even the water is heated using a solar hot water system and also water is pumped using in the borehole using solar.

Shakani Campsite-Budget

Shakani Campsite is located on the banks of Lake Shakani, the only lake where fishing is allowed as a tourist activity. This is a great spot if you don’t mind sharing the space with hippos and noisy plovers. Birdlife abounds at this campsite, and with the lake lapping the shores and a backdrop of tree covered hills, the scenery is magnificent.

Mutamba Campsite-Budget

Mutamba Campsite is the highest point in Akagera and is renowned for the high density of game that congregates in this region, including herds of eland and the elusive roan antelope.

Muyumbu Campsite -Budget

Muyumba Campsite is situated on a ridge with a stunning view overlooking the picturesque Lake Shakani and Lake Ihema and across to Tanzania. Only a few kilometers away from the reception at Kiyonza, Muyumba is the closest camp site to the entrance gate.
All three campsites have pit toilets and a wash room. However, there is no running water available so please come prepared with enough water for the duration of your stay.
