6 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari Tour – Highlights

Day 1: Transfer From Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

You will be required to take an early morning breakfast before you depart from your hotel/lodge at 7 am to start your journey to Lake Mburo National Park for your one-day short wildlife safari in Uganda.

The journey will take you about 4 hours without the stopovers driving for about 235km from Kampala. You will drive through several small towns and villages enjoying the beautiful greenery seen on the lush rolling hills making Uganda an ever-green country hence the name the “Pearl of Africa”.

Upon arrival at the equator in Kayabwe, you will take lots of Photographs standing in two hemispheres at the same time, visit the souvenir shops around, and have an exciting polar water experiment.

Retreat from the equator and proceed for your lunch in Mbarara town. After your lunch, drive for about 1 hour to Lake Mburo National Park for your afternoon boat cruise.

The boat cruise takes about 2 hours sightseeing hippos, crocodiles, and lots of birds. Return from your boat cruise and check in your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Do a Morning Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On this day you will wake up early, and have breakfast at your lodge so you are ready by 6:30 am. Our driver guide will pick you up at the lodge for your early morning game drive in the park for about 3 hours.

After your game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast rest, and rest as you wait for your lunch. After lunch, check out and prepare to leave this part of the world and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

As you drive you will enjoy the great volcanic landscape with rolling hills covered with vegetation to your lodge, check-in, dine, and rest for the next day.

Day 3: Do Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Following an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters with your guide at around 7 am to catch the briefing at 8 am.

You will be briefed about the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking activity and after the park ranger will lead you to the forest to trek the gorillas.

The Uganda gorilla trekking activity takes about 2 to 8 hours. After finally coming face to face with these gorillas, you will be restricted to 1 hour with them.

You will have a memorable experience as you watch and take photos of them feeding, playing, and caring for each other. This is one of the unforgettable Uganda safari encounters.

Day 4: Transfer From Bwindi to Akagera National Park Rwanda

Have your last breakfast in Uganda, and bid farewell to the world’s biggest mountain gorilla land; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and transfer to Akagera National Park.

This is an 8-hour journey that will offer you the best sights of the lush hillslopes as you cruise to Nyungwe. Arrive at your place of accommodation in the evening, rest, and have dinner.

Day 5: Undertake Game Drives and a Boat Cruise in Akagera National Park in Rwanda

Take a cup of tea at the lodge before joining your ranger in your open safari 4×4 safari land cruiser vehicle for your morning game drive in the park.

This half-day game drive will offer you the opportunity to spot a variety of wild animals including elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffes, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Burchell’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck. Later in the afternoon after your game drive, you will return to the lodge for your lunch.

In the afternoon after your lunch, proceed for a 2-hour boat cruise along Lake Ihema, this scenic cruise brings you close to the water animals like Crocodiles and Hippos, as well as a large concentration of bird life.

Akagera National Park is also blessed with over 525 species identified bird species with unique species like the Shoe billed stock, and papyrus gonolek among the many.

This park has Endemics including the jacanas, ibis, sandpipers, and herons. Retire from the boat cruise and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as you do a simple game drive.

Day 6: Kigali City Tour And Departure

After an early morning breakfast, depart for a Kigali city tour that is designed to give you a memorable view of Kigali town.

This Kigali city tour takes you to a wide range of places that give you great insight into the city and country in just one day.

You will pay visits to markets where you will taste fruits, visit public art shops, the Genocide Memorial, the National Theater, and many more depending on the time you have. Retire and return to your hotel or go to the airport for your late flight.
