5 Days Rwanda Safari Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

As you set your foot at Kigali international airport, your professional driver guide will be waiting to pick you up from the airport, give you a short briefing about your 5 Days Volcanoes gorilla safari Rwanda & Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking tour Rwanda and then transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Early Morning Breakfast, Short City Tour in Kigali, And Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

On this day you will have your breakfast early in the morning at your hotel as you wait for your driver guide. He will pick you and take you for a short city tour in Kigali before you transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Nyungwe Forest National Park is about 190km from the airport; a journey that will offer you the best sights of the lush hill slopes as you cruise to Nyungwe. Arrive at your place of accommodation in the evening, rest and have dinner.

Day 3: Do Chimpanzee Tracking

After your early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will be picked by your driver guide and head to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking activity.

The chimpanzee trekking activity starts at 8am with a briefing for the rangers. The rangers will lead you to the forest to see the chimpanzees passing through the jungle, hiking in the steep slopes amidst several sightings will offer you the best 2-5 hours chimpanzee trekking.

When you see them, you will be stunned by the way the chimps play around in the trees with their human like characters.

In the afternoon after your lunch, you go for your canopy walk in the forest that you explored early in the morning.

Walking 50m above the ground for 200meters is a breathtaking experience you cannot compare to any other activity in this park.

The 2 hours walk starts and ends at the Uwinka tourist reception center at the park headquarters. During the walk, you will sight variety of bird species that will be passing by, birds in the trees, and several tree species. Retreat from the activity and return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning after your last breakfast in Nyungwe Forest National Park, your driver guide will drive you to Volcanoes national park.

After arriving at your accommodation area in Volcanoes National Park, you will relax, have lunch, dinner and prepare for your overnight at in the only gorilla land of Rwanda.

Day 5: Do Gorilla Trekking

This memorable day begins very early in the morning since your gorilla trekking briefing starts at 8:00am at the park headquarters therefore your driver guide has to get you there before this time.

During the briefing, you will be told the do’s and don’ts of the gorilla trekking activity and after you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek led by a ranger guide.

Rwanda gorilla trekking safaris last about 2-8 hours. Once you sight these gorillas, you are restricted to only one hour to watch their life style in the wild.

After the activity, your driver guide will drive you back to Kigali international airport for departure.
